2012 Orange Muscat -- SOLD OUT

  • $18.00

2012 Orange Muscat (Wilmeth Vineyard, Texas High Plains): This variety (not to be confused with Muscat Blanc, Muscat of Alexandria, or other mutations) has found a home in Texas as well. With just a bit of Semillon for balance and structure, this semi-sweet (but not dessert-or-sticky-sweet) white checks in at palpable but modest 4% residual sugar (compared to maybe 25% in a true dessert Eiswein or the like). Its fragrant nose precedes ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavors, with a clean finish and juicy acidity.

The best food pairing I've heard so far is something along the lines of sauteed shrimp with a lightly sweet and fruity glaze.
